Newcastle United suffered a 2-1 defeat to Arsenal in their sixth Premier League clash of the season on September 28 at St. James' Park.

After Nick Woltemade found the back of the net for Newcastle from an assist by Sandro Tonali in the 34th minute, the Magpies' head coach, Eddie Howe, was forced to replace Tino Livramento on the pitch with Jamaal Lascelles in the 77th minute.

Livramento went down with a misguided challenge from Arsenal's William Saliba, prompting medical attention, and was then stretchered off the pitch.

Mikel Merino netted the equalizer for Arsenal after being set up by Declan Rice in the 84th minute. The Gunners' late winning goal came with Gabriel Magalhaes' stride from an assist by Martin Odegaard, six minutes into the second half stoppage time.

When asked about Livramento after the match, Howe told Sky Sports,

"Seeing him go off in that manner was really distressing. Yeah, I don't know. I've not spoken to him or anyone from the medical side yet," as per TBR Football.

In his post-match press conference, the English manager further voiced his concerns about Livramento's injury and told reporters,

"I am concerned because he's such an important player for us. He's been magnificent at the start of this season. He's a big player, so if we are going to lose him it's going to be a huge blow," as per GOAL.

What's next for Newcastle United and Tino Livramento?

Livramento, a regular starter for Newcastle, has appeared in all eight matches across competitions in this season so far, during which he has also provided one assist.

The 22-year-old right-back's possible absence due to injury, as the ongoing campaign is gaining traction, could be a major issue for Howe.

Reports have suggested that Livramento, who has contributed to four clean sheets in six league matches for Newcastle this season, has sustained a knee injury and is set to undergo a scan on Monday.

Newcastle, meanwhile, are now headed to their second match of the 2025/26 Champions League against Belgian club Royale Union Saint-Gilloise on October 1 at Constant Vanden Stock Stadium.
