A member of the midfield ranks at La Liga champions Barcelona continued to etch his name ever further into the club’s history books on Sunday.
The player in question? Frenkie de Jong.
Dutch international De Jong was for his part back in from the off yesterday evening, as Barcelona welcomed Real Sociedad to Catalunya’s capital for a La Liga clash.
The former Ajax man enjoyed a typically classy showing from his berth in the middle of the park, excelling on both sides of the ball amid what has been a brilliant individual season to date.
Such efforts proved crucial to Barca’s eventual recovery from a goal down to secure a 2-1 triumph.
And as alluded to above, along the way, De Jong secured for himself a fresh piece of Blaugrana history.
As revealed across the club’s social media platforms, the 28-year-old has broken his tie with Ronald Koeman, to become the Dutch player with the 2nd-most appearances in Barcelona history:
