They do not, however, want Schmidt

The Colorado Rockies’ season has mercifully ended, which means it’s time to start looking ahead to next season. As Evan Lang pointed out this morning, there needs to be a thorough examination of all facets of the organization to identify what’s working and what isn’t. And the things that aren’t working need to be fixed as soon as possible.
The biggest questions surrounding the next steps for the Rockies include those about the future of general manager Bill Schmidt and interim manager Warren Schaeffer. We asked you last week who you thought would stay on in 2026, and a majority of you believe that the Schaeffer Way will continue:
However, a good number of you also believe that both might be relieved of their duties. It’s a challenging question, because it may be up to the new general manager to decide whether or not Schaeffer stays and in what capacity (manager, bench coach, or something else entirely).
The overwhelming majority of you, though, are confident that Bill Schmidt will no longer be with the Rockies in 2026.
Only time will tell, but hopefully we’ll have some answers from the team soon.
