Miami has a decision to make.
Dolphins facing $28 million Tyreek Hill contract decision after injury originally appeared on The Sporting News
The Miami Dolphins' season just took a horror turn in the third quarter of their game against the New York Jets, with receiver Tyreek Hill suffering a horrible-looking leg/ankle injury.
Hill was, as expected, ruled out of the game as Hill's ankle was pointing in another direction, with NFL Network's Ian Rapoport posting on X that Hill was going to a local hospital.
But there is also something else the Dolphins have to think of in light of Hill's injury - his contract.
According to Spotrac.com, the Dolphins have an out in Hill's contract in 2026, but it would come with a $28 million dead cap hit. Given that Tyreek's season is likely over, a decision would have already had to be made on whether to keep him around.
But now, coming off what looked to be a gruesome injury, the Dolphins front office will have some serious thinking to do about what they do with Tyreek going forward.

Could Dolphins trade/cut Tyreek Hill in 2026?
This might seem cold-hearted given what Hill just went through, but the Dolphins, as we stated above, have a decision to make.
Hill's cap hit in 2026 is a whopping $51 million. Yikes.
Per Over The Cap, if the Dolphins traded Hill pre-June 1, the franchise would get $36 million in cap savings, and only eat $15.5 million in dead money. If he's traded after June 1, Miami saves $39 million and eats $12.7 million.
Conversely, cutting him post-June 1, Miami saves $39 million ($36 million pre-June), and in either scenario, wouldn't eat more than $15.5 million in dead money.
So, the Dolphins, while they don't have a decision to make right now, may need to take action in the offseason.
