4 wide receiver trade targets the Steelers could pursue after Calvin Austin's injury

Here are four wide receiver trade targets the Pittsburgh Steelers could pursue following Calvin Austin's shoulder injury.

An already bare Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver room suffered a massive blow when Calvin Austin III sustained a significant shoulder injury against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 4 — putting a short-term hiatus on what’s been a strong start to a Year 4 breakout.

With Austin expected to miss time, here are four trade-target wide receivers the Steelers should pursue.

Allen Lazard — New York Jets

Aaron Rodgers and Allen Lazard are among the new faces on the New York Jets roster for 2023.

Will the Steelers finally pull the trigger and reunite Lazard with his former teammate and close friend Aaron Rodgers? Now seems like the perfect opportunity to make a deal with New York.

Curtis Samuel — Buffalo Bills

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Curtis Samuel (1) returns a punt during the second quarter against the New Orleans Saints at Highmark Stadium.

While Samuel isn't the flashiest name on this list, he is more than capable of becoming a solid contributor on Pittsburgh's offense. After spending the first three weeks as a healthy scratch, Samuel caught one pass for the Bills in Week 4 — but it's clear from consecutive placements on the inactive list that he isn't part of the plans moving forward.

Meyers requested a trade in August, and his days in Las Vegas may soon be over after the Raiders dropped to 1-4. Meyers would form one of the best wide receiver duos in the league opposite DK Metcalf on the Steelers and could have a career year under Rodgers' leadership in 2025.

Chris Olave — New Orleans Saints

The Saints' roster could go on bargain sale after New Orleans dropped to 0-4 on the season — and Olave, who's playing on his fifth-year option without a long-term extension, could be the first of many to be traded. If Pittsburgh is truly all in on a Super Bowl this season, acquiring Olave is the move to make.
