The Pittsburgh Penguins are adding red and blue to all player jerseys next season.
The Penguins announced Monday that First National Bank would be the first brand in franchise history to display its logo on both the team’s home and away jerseys.
The deal is a “multi-year” agreement, according to the team. The F.N.B. logo will also be on the team’s alternate and third jerseys during that span.
The Pens first added the F.N.B patch on road jerseys ahead of the 2023-24 season. That deal was already set to run through 2026-27.
The new agreement means saying goodbye to the blue Highmark logo on home jerseys, which was introduced as the team’s first sponsorship patch ahead of the 2022-23 campaign. The Pens went on to wear those blue patches at home for three seasons.
Now it’s on to F.N.B on all jerseys. The Penguins were wearing the red-and-blue patches during this weekend’s back-to-back set of preseason home games against the Detroit Red Wings and Columbus Blue Jackets.
The announcement comes as the Penguins are preparing to wrap up the preseason with two games against the Buffalo Sabres this week.
After the Penguins play their exhibition finale against the Sabres on Friday in Pittsburgh, the team will have just three days left before the 23-man roster submission deadline hits next Monday at 5 p.m. ET.
The Penguins trimmed the roster to 43 players at the beginning of the week. Almost half of those players will be out by the time the puck drops to open the regular season next Tuesday against the host New York Rangers.
