In the 2024/25 League phase, Bayern suffered three losses in four matches. Can they reverse their fortunes this year?
Ahead of a top four showdown with Eintracht Frankfurt before the international break, Bayern Munich will travel to the island of Cyprus for a Champions League duel with Pafos FC. Vincent Kompany’s unit struggled on the road last year but will have an opportunity to pad their goal differential stat.
Bayern has defeated all six Cypriot clubs in the past but this will be the first meeting with Pafos, who was founded in 2014.
In an improbable run to the League phase, Pafos defeated Maccabi Tel Aviv, Dynamo Kyiv, and Red Star Belgrade in the double-legged qualifying rounds. Despite being reduced to 10 men in the 25th minute, Pafos also held Olympiacos to a scoreless draw earlier this month.
Odds: Bayern (-770), Draw (+700), Pafos (+2000)
Prediction: Bayern wins, 3-0. Pafos will sit in a deep shell as Bayern passes and probes for the first 30 minutes. After a 5-10 minute surge, Bayern will finally break through with a header from Dayot Upamecano. Michael Olise will score early in the second half and Harry Kane will put the cherry on top as Pafos softens its approach in search of a late goal.
It’s Bayern time.
