The South Grand Prairie (Texas) offense has been hard to stop through four games this season. Senior running back Josiah Lucas is a big reason why.

He’s been dominant thus far and is now coming off a career game last week. In a 48-31 win over Arlington, Lucas rushed for 223 yards and four touchdowns. He also caught two passes, compiling 43 yards and another score.

The 5-foot-7 burner has been the focal point of the attack for the Warriors, who improved to 4-0 with the win. Lucas, a San Diego State commit, is now up to 598 yards through four games — an average of 149.5 yards per game.

He’s already accumulated 13 touchdowns, too. In a 72-14 win over Rowlett to open the season, Lucas rushed for 182 yards and three touchdowns on just 10 carries. On Sept. 19 in a 59-10 win at Sam Houston, he rushed for three more scores and 110 yards.

Lucas is already on pace to surpass what was a breakout junior campaign. In 10 games last season, he rushed for 1,403 yards and 18 touchdowns. South Grand Prairie went 6-5 in 2024.

The senior committed to San Diego State and head coach Sean Lewis on June 25. Tulane was also in the mix, while the likes of Baylor, Ole Miss, Kansas State, Arizona and Pitt have also previously offered. Lucas is the No. 866 overall prospect and No. 56 RB in the 2026 cycle, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all major recruiting media companies.

Looking ahead, South Grand Prairie has a real chance to enter the postseason undefeated at 10-0. The Warriors still have three games on the road, but are favored to win each, according to the Massey Ratings. They now rank as the No. 83 team in the Lone Star State.

The Warriors are now on a bye this week and will return to action at Lamar on Oct. 10. Grand Prairie, Martin, Haltom and Bowie are also on the schedule.
