Nick Aldis & Adam Pearce work out a deal for a big SmackDown match

WWE offers a storyline explanation as they build toward one of Crown Jewel’s Raw vs. SmackDown bouts.

The roster split lines have always been blurry between WWE brands. Lately though, I will give the powers-that-be credit for at least making an effort to explain some talent moving back and forth between Raw and SmackDown.

Not long ago, LA Knight and Sami Zayn were quietly swapped between the shows in a fairly logical trade (something WWE probably could have gotten more #engagement out of if they’d promoted it the transaction the way a “real” sport would have).

Now, to set-up a tag match on this Friday’s SmackDown — and head off some complaints from Draft purists in the process — blue brand General Manager Nick Aldis says he “just wrapped up a phone call with my esteemed colleague, Adam Pearce over at Monday Night Raw” that will bring The Vision’s Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed to his Oct. 3 show for a tag match against Undisputed WWE champ Cody Rhodes & Randy Orton.

This is currently the only thing announced for SmackDown this week, and should continue the build to Rhodes’ match at Crown Jewel Perth next Saturday against Reed & Breakker’s teammate/leader, WWE World Heavyweight champion Seth Rollins.

I remain not-too-excited about that bout in Australia, but I do like this little bit of adherence to their own fictional rules. Especially as Crown Jewel will feature at least one other Raw vs. SmackDown match, and Survivor Series could involve more.
