Lamar Jackson

Ravens dealt potentially season-defining injury update on Lamar Jackson originally appeared on The Sporting News

The Baltimore Ravens were already in a world of hurt after losing 37-20 to the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 4 to drop to 1-3, as Lamar Jackson exited the third quarter late with a hamstring injury.

Given the state of the Ravens' season, at 1-3, it is on life support, and we were eagerly awaiting any news on Jackson's injury and his ability to potentially play on Sunday against the Houston Texans.

Well, things have gone from bad to worse with Jackson, per Brian Wacker of the Baltimore Sun, who could miss between two and three weeks with his injury.

With the Houston Texans and then the Los Angeles Rams to come before their bye, the Ravens, who could be starting with Cooper Rush, might be 1-5 when Jackson returns. That's nightmare fuel for Baltimore.

Is Ravens' season over with Jackson injury news?

It isn't over, but goodness me, it feels close.

Given that the Pittsburgh Steelers are leading the division at 3-1, the Ravens can ill-afford any more slip-ups, and with Jackson's injury, Rush might be tasked with starting the next couple of games.

If the Ravens lose them and drop to 1-5, the season is over, and then it might be a question of how often Lamar plays in a season with nothing to gain. Of course, given Rush's previous history, he can win you a game or two here and there, but now he might be in a position where he has to win, and that is a different thing altogether.

If, and that's a big if, Jackson is out for multiple weeks, and Rush can't stack wins, yeah, Baltimore's season might be over before Thanksgiving.
