“With 10 men” – Enzo Maresca’s playful response to yet another Chelsea red card

Chelsea have now had a player sent off in their last three games, and Enzo Maresca had a playful response to this.

The most recent red card came late on in Chelsea’s win against Benfica last night in the Champions League and luckily, it was late enough that it did not effect the result or the performance and Chelsea didn’t have long to see out.

EXCLUSIVE! Chelsea make contact to sign international centre back in the January window!!

The Blues were ahead after a first half own goal came from a perfect Pedro Neto cross and a good run in behind by Alejandro Garnacho to force the ball back across the goal and the mistake by the Benfica player.

Garnacho says after the game that he was pleased to get the three points and happy to be representing Chelsea in this competition. He also said he doesn’t have a bad word to say against his old club Manchester United.

It was a very important three points for Chelsea and Enzo Maresca who had come under some pressure after the last four games of poor performances and/or poor results.

Maresca’s playful response

Enzo Maresca in his press conference.

The Blues boss preferred to take the joke route when asked about Joao Pedro being sent off last night and to be honest, I really like this playful response which you can watch in video format here.

Maresca said:

“The good thing is that we are improving, now we can win with 10 players. I think the second yellow card he didn’t touch. But probably the dynamic of the foul is a dangerous one and they give him a red card.”

It will be nice to not have a sending off

Chelsea’s next game is against Liverpool at the weekend and I beg can we end the game with all 11 players on the pitch for once? Let that be one of our aims!
