Bears predicted to solve RB woes with trade for 1359-yard star

Chicago could use this.

The Chicago Bears don't have the deepest or most talented backfield.

But with about a month until the NFL trade deadline, they may have the chance to change that.

Bleacher Report's Alex Kay has suggested a trade the Bears should make with the New York Jets.

Kay suggests that the Jets could send Breece Hall to Chicago for two draft picks.

Hall, in the last year of his contract, would supplement or supplant D'Andre Swift in the Bears' backfield. Last season, Hall had 1,359 yards from scrimmage as a dual-threat RB.

"Hall has declined in recent years after making a massive splash as a rookie," Kay writes. "He's now averaging a career-low 4.1 yards per carry and could be expendable with both Braelon Allen and Isaiah Davis pushing the fourth-year veteran for touches. A change of scenery may be exactly what Hall needs to revive his career. He averaged an impressive 5.1 YPC in his first NFL season and clearly has the talent to be a playmaker in the league."

Swift has also just not been good enough. Chicago could use the shakeup.

"Swift is averaging an abysmal 3.3 yards per carry through the first four games of 2025, regressing from the already-concerning 3.8 YPC he posted last season," Kay writes. "With his receiving work (13 catches for 85 yards) also failing to move the needle, there's a real need for a change to Chicago's backfield platoon."

Hall is a younger, better version of Swift.

He'd be the kind of upgrade the Bears need to work alongside Caleb Williams and with head coach Ben Johnson. It's worth the phone call, for sure.
