The 49ers ruled out Brock Purdy, Ricky Pearsall, and Jauan Jennings for Thursday night’s game against the Rams.
The San Francisco 49ers’ final injury report is out for Thursday night’s game against the Los Angeles Rams. The following players were ruled out:
QB Brock Purdy (toe)
WR Jauan Jennings (ankle/ribs)
WR Ricky Pearsall (knee)
WR Jordan Watkins (calf)
DE Robert Beal (ankle)
Rookie defensive tackle CJ West is questionable with a thumb injury.
This will be the third game Purdy misses in five games. The conversation about whether the 49ers brought their franchise quarterback back too early from injury will grow even louder, especially if Purdy sits out for multiple games.
That means Mac Jones will get his third start of the season. Unfortunately for Jones, he won’t have the services of the team’s top two pass catchers. Jones will throw to Kendrick Bourne, Demarcus Robinson, and tight end Jake Tonges.
Christian McCaffrey already led the league in usage rate, and that was primarily with Pearsall and Jennings in the lineup. McCaffrey leads the team in receptions. Is it possible for Kyle Shanahan to get his best player even more involved in the passing game? We’ll find out.
