Max Eberl credits Vincent Kompany for Bayern Munich’s continued success

Max Eberl likes the job Vincent Kompany has done at Bayern Munich…

Bayern Munich board member for sport Max Eberl does not have to look too far to see what he considers to be the reason why Bayern Munich has been able to stay so consistently good over the past two seasons — head coach Vincent Kompany.

“As a coach, you are responsible for the team, and Vincent Kompany has played an extremely big role in the current season. He has been with the club since July 2024 and has developed fantastically. Success doesn’t come automatically; it’s hard work. He started that last year, and he’s continued it seamlessly this season,” Eberl told Sky Germany journalist Kerry Hau (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “Vincent Kompany has breathed new life, new awareness, and also new enthusiasm into players like Kingsley Coman, Serge Gnabry, and Leon Goretzka. He’s made them healthy. That’s continuing seamlessly this season. Now with new signings, and players from the campus, with Lennart Karl, whom he wants to integrate and develop.

“He always says quite deliberately that he doesn’t want hype, but rather he wants to initiate development so that he [Karl] can be in professional football for the next 15 or 20 years and not be a one-hit wonder. And that speaks for Kompany. That’s why he’s a stroke of luck for FC Bayern.”

Kompany has done a solid job and has shown a willingness to evolve. That should serve him well in the coming months.
