Andrade attacks former World champ in shocking return to AEW

He just left WWE a couple weeks ago. Now he’s back in the company he left at the end of 2023, taking aim at an EVP.

The 6 Year Anniversary edition of Dynamite started off with a tag match that had a few different story strands running through it. It featuring Kenny Omega’s first match since his was stretchered out of Dynamite after yet another attack by The Don Callis Family and The Young Bucks. It was a trios match with Brodido against The Bucks and Callis Family member Josh Alexander, and it continued the angle about Matt & Nick Jackson losing their money along with their EVP titles when they lost to Swerve Strickland & Will Ospreay at All In Texas.

In that, Nick lost all the money The Bucks won a few weeks back at the Hard Rock Casino before his big brother could use it buy them a sweet entrance for tonight’s show elsewhere on the property.

After the good guys won the opener and the Tag champs made their exit, Omega hung around in the ring, seemingly to hash it out with his former fellow executive vice-presidents. Alexander used the opportunity for a sneak attack, but Matt & Nick didn’t join in. They didn’t stop the Walking Weapon either, though. The recently reunited Jurassic Express did that.

Kenny had a tense moment with Jungle Boy (Jack Perry was a member of The Elite when they took Omega out last year), but finally got to talk about the history of tonight’s show in Hollywood, Florida — and about six years of AEW history. He thanked the fans, bid them adieu, etc. Then the lights went out, and when they came up a masked figure was in the ring behind Omega. It was Andrade El Idolo!

It was just last month that the Mexican star’s second WWE run ended under somewhat mysterious circumstances. Andrade’s exit was already different than most, and whatever went down between he and the company doesn’t seem to have involved his being paid while not working elsewhere (aka a “non-compete period”).

Now that he’s back in the company he left in December of 2023, he’s allied with Callis…

… and it didn’t take long to figure out where that was leading. More on that in a bit, and in our live blog here.
