Former Blues boss Jose Mourinho has been complimenting a current Chelsea player who he says has great potential.

Mourinho was back at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night with his new Benfica side but he was on the end of a 1-0 defeat to Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea. But the game was a close one and could have easily gone either way.

EXCLUSIVE! Chelsea make contact to sign international centre back in the January window!!

Pedro Neto and Alejandro Garnacho forced the only goal of the game with some good work to bring on the own goal in the first half, and Neto has been praised by the Portuguese media for his display this week.

They weren’t the only ones either, former Chelsea winger Joe Cole was full of praise for Neto after the game and said he was the best player of the night.

Chelsea have been fit by fatigue and injury issues right now so they are going to need all of the players in their squad. Many fans now want to see Estevao Willian get a run of starts in the team after some very promising signs so far.

Like Chelsea fans, Mourinho is another who likes what he sees from the young Brazilian winger who is ready to burst onto the scene.

In words picked up on X, Mourinho said on Estevao:

“Estevao is a talent. People might think he would take a while to adapt due to his youth, immaturity, and the competition he faces at Chelsea, but he’s here, playing at a higher level, and is a player with great potential.”

Relax on the hype

We need to allow him full time to settle and find his feet. He’s started well and we all rate him highly, but we need to keep the pressure off him as much as possible and just allow him to keep developing as a very young player.
