NFL Picks, Predictions Week 5: Los Angeles Chargers vs. Washington Commanders

How do the NFL experts see things going for the L.A. Chargers in Week 5?

NFL Picks, Predictions Week 5: Los Angeles Chargers vs. Washington Commanders originally appeared on The Sporting News

Still licking the wounds from their first loss of the season, the Los Angeles Chargers must swallow the bitter taste of a loss to the New York Giants and get ready for another team from the NFC East... the Washington Commanders.

This time it will be played at SoFi Stadium and it will be a good test for the Chargers to face the team that made it all the way to the NFC Championship Game last year. Things may not be as easy as some thought they would be as Jayden Daniels returned to full practice for the Commanders on Wednesday, meaning that the Chargers will likely have to deal with him rather than Marcus Mariota. Daniels has missed the last two games.

How do the experts see this one going down?

Los Angeles Chargers vs. Washington Commanders Week 5 Expert Picks

Bill Bender, The Sporting News: Chargers 24, Commanders 21

"The Chargers have injuries – including tackle Joe Alt (ankle) – and that showed in the loss to the Giants. Washington also has injuries to several key playmakers, but Jayden Daniels (knee) is expected to return this week. Three of Los Angeles' four games have been decided by three points. This game will follow that trend. Los Angeles is 5-1-1 ATS at home under Jim Harbaugh."

Vinnie Iyer, The Sporting News: Chargers 24, Commanders 20

"The Commanders are hoping Jayden Daniels can return for Marcus Mariota at QB but the offense is faring OK with Kliff Kingsbury's system well in place, spreading the ball around. The defense is becoming a bigger issue, giving up chunks vs. the run and other big plays. That won't change vs. Justin Herbert and Omarion Hampton on the road."

Pete Prisco, CBS Sports: Chargers 34, Commanders 24

"The Commanders should have Jayden Daniels back in this one after he missed the past two weeks. The Chargers are coming off their first loss to the Giants last week. They have injury issues up front on the offensive line, but I think Justin Herbert will still be able to light up this Commanders defense. The Chargers get back on track."

Jeremy Cluff, Arizona Republic: Chargers 27, Commanders 24

"This game could easily go either way, but we're leaning toward the Chargers bouncing back at home with a big performance from Justin Herbert, even if Jayden Daniels returns for the Commanders."
