LITTLE ROCK, Ark.- Paris Wilburd isn’t your typical high school student. A pair of cowgirl boots, a rope and a horse are taking her far.
“I started riding when I was 6 years old, and I went on a family trail ride out of state somewhere and I fell in love with horses,” Wilburd said.
For the last three years, she’s been a national rodeo champion, with her most recent win coming from the Bill Pickett Invitational Rodeo.
“Leading up to all the rodeo’s I just have my mindset whether I win or not, I just need to be consistent and stay winning mone,y” Wilburt said.
This cowgirl has her head in the game, all while keeping a firm balance between the rodeo life and school.
“School comes firs,t I have to have all A’s and B’s all passing grades, before I can do anything, and then next is rodeo. I set all my priorities straight and then track and volleyball,” Wilburd said.
Wilburd is a lady’s barrel racing and volleyball champion, but her heart is here at the stables.
She says her rules for success have always been the same; she believes her integrity and gratitude will take her far.
“Always stay humble, always stay humble. I say it all the time. And no matter what you do, because God can change something in your life in the blink of an eye and never give up. You just always have to stay on top of your game,” Wilburd said.
