The big lad provided an update on his injury.
Liverpool FC defender Giovanni Leoni has provided a personal update with an Instagram story, showing that he has successfully undergone surgery on his anterior cruciate ligament.
It’s safe to say that Giovanni will miss the rest of the season, with early estimates for a return to action looking at late 2026 or early 2027.
Thankfully, Leoni will have plenty of teammates to lean on during his recovery process. Joe Gomez, rather infamously, has gone through something similar, suffering an ACL early into his Liverpool career. He then suffered another ACL injury during the cursed 2020/21 season that also saw Virgil van Dijk go down with a similar injury. Florian Wirtz also rebounded from an ACL injury in 2022 to take his game to greater heights as Leverkusen went an entire season unbeaten in the Bundesliga.
It’s obviously not ideal, and Leoni was having such a good game up to the point he got injured but the lad will be in good hands at the club. Our best wishes on his recovery.
