Official: Real Madrid star named Champions League Player of the Week

A member of the attacking ranks at La Liga giants Real Madrid has secured for himself the award for Champions League Player of the Week.

The Blancos star in question? Kylian Mbappé.

Frontman Mbappé is for his part of course fresh off an outing to remember on the continent in midweek.

After Real Madrid made the long trip to Kazakhstan for a meeting with Kairat, the Frenchman was afforded a starting berth as the visitors’ attacking spearhead.

And en route to an eventual 5-0 rout, Mbappé proved himself the star of the show.

This came by way of a fine hat-trick, to keep alive what has been nothing short of a blistering recent spell of form in front of goal.

The 26-year-old, in turn, was earlier today nominated for Champions League Player of the Week.

And as alluded to above, on Thursday afternoon, Mbappé has officially beaten out the competition to scoop the prize:

1st: Kylian Mbappé
2nd: Rasmus Højlund
3rd: Jens Petter Hauge
4th: Erling Haaland
