World Cup winner and all-time top scorer Miroslav Klose faces a do-or-die match as Nuremberg coach on Friday after a poor start into the second division season.
Nuremberg are third-last with four points from seven matches, and another defeat on Friday at Fortuna Düsseldorf could end his tenure.
"The players know that it's the eleventh hour and that they have to deliver now. But it's always a collaborative effort," Klose said.
Klose, who won the World Cup as a player in 2014 and is Germany's all-time national team top scorer, took the Nuremberg job last year and led them to a 10th-place finish.
But the new season has been difficult, and looking at his own fate, Klose said that "football remains a results sport" and that "it is clear that the coach is questioned" over the poor results.
Nuremberg last lost 3-0 at home against Hertha Berlin, and board member for sports Joti Chatzialexiou told the Bild paper that the match in Dusseldorf is "crucial for the standings."
