Not only are the San Francisco 49ers underdogs for the first time in five meetings against the Los Angeles Rams, but the line has gone from 3.5 to a full touchdown. That number has risen beyond a touchdown. You have to go back to 2020 to find the last time the Niners were projected to lose by at least seven points. Nick Mullens was on the road in 2020, starting against Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints.

We bring up the odds as it suggests the 49ers will be without Brock Purdy, who is rarely an underdog when he’s in the lineup. Now that Purdy, Jauan Jennings, and Ricky Pearsall have been ruled out, the line makes sense.

So, in this week’s survey, we ask what it would take to make you confident in the 49ers’ direction? Would that be a trade at the deadline? Will the team value themselves enough when that point comes to even make a trade? A lot can happen in a few weeks.
