The Dallas Cowboys and New York Jets meet for a Week 5 battle at MetLife Stadium. This will be one of the better games of the slate as it could be a high-scoring affair, featuring an electric matchup.
With CeeDee Lamb out, the Cowboys’ top receiver will be George Pickens. Lamb was seen rehabbing his injury during practice.
Pickens will go up against cornerback Sauce Gardner on the other side of the ball for the majority of the game. Gardner will aim to make sure Dak Prescott does not target Pickens often.
Here is what Pickens said about the matchup against Gardner, which he expects to be a “good matchup.”
“My mindset is always that for any DB. But I really just want to come out and be efficient. Last game we were efficient but we ended in a tie. I just wanna get the victory.”
Pickens will see a lot of man-to-man coverage battling against Gardner and Aaron Glenn’s defense.
“Yeah, most definitely. I’m most definitely excited to see man coverage because it’s just 1 on 1. They play a few zones, but I’m definitely excited to see man.”
Pickens is a playmaker. That is a common statement for the former Georgia Bulldog. In four games this season, the receiver has 21 catches on 33 targets for 300 yards and four touchdowns. He scored twice against the Green Bay Packers last weekend. That is a very productive start to the campaign as he is already one touchdown shy of his career high. It is looking as if he will surpass that total by a wide margin at this rate. He and Dak Prescott have formed a great relationship early on.
Gardner is off to a hot start to the season with nine tackles and three pass deflections. Whoever wins this matchup between these two stars could see their team come out on top.
