Hansi Flick vows Barcelona will fight for the Champions League

Barça coach sends a message of confidence to fans and renew the team’s commitment to Europe’s top prize.

Hansi Flick did not wait long to respond to FC Barcelona’s UEFA Champions League defeat against Paris Saint-Germain. The German coach attended an Oktoberfest dinner hosted at Casa SEAT in Barcelona, where he took the stage to reassure supporters. “I promise we will fight for the Champions League,” he declared, earning a warm ovation.

Flick, joined by his assistant Markus Sorg, used the event to strengthen ties with the club’s fans. Although he admitted he has never been a beer drinker, he honored tradition by tapping the ceremonial keg before raising a symbolic toast.

Looking back, Flick recalled last season’s achievements, when Barça claimed La Liga, Copa del Rey, and Supercopa titles, while also reaching the Champions League semifinals. “It was the best year of my life. Riding through Barcelona on the open-top bus during the victory parade was unforgettable. I hope we can do it again with the right titles,” he said.

Fully aware of the expectations that come with leading Barcelona, Flick made clear that both he and the squad are determined to build on last year’s momentum.

The coach emphasized that the Champions League remains the club’s most coveted goal. “With Bayern Munich, winning the Champions League was the most special day of my career. Everyone here wants that same feeling, and we will work to make it happen. It won’t be easy, but I promise we will fight for it,” he added firmly.

Despite a high-profile setback, a loss against Paris-Saint Germain the UCL, Barcelona still remain among one of the top few teams most are betting on to win Europe’s biggest trophy.
