The San Francisco 49ers don't have wide receivers Ricky Pearsall and Jauan Jennings in Week 5, but will the duo be back in Week 6? Here's the latest injury updates on both players.
Will Jauan Jennings, Ricky Pearsall be back in Week 6? Latest injury updates on 49ers WRs originally appeared on The Sporting News
Wide receivers Ricky Pearsall and Jauan Jennings will be absent for the San Francisco 49ers' Week 5 game against the Los Angeles Rams.
Both players were listed on the injury report this week and simply couldn't get right in time for the quick turnaround for Thursday night's game.
Jennings is dealing with ankle and rib issues and is missing his second game of the season, while Pearsall is missing his first with a knee issue.
As if that wasn't enough for the Niners to overcome, quarterback Brock Purdy was also ruled out and has a chance to sit out next week, according to a report that lists Purdy as "week-to-week."
Will the Niners' depleted wide receivers room get a much-needed shot in the arm from Jennings and Pearsall returning in Week 6?
Here's what we know.
Will Jauan Jennings, Ricky Pearsall play next week?
Neither Jennings nor Pearsall appear to have long-term injuries and there has been no indication they will miss Week 6. Of course, there hasn't been any confirmation they will play, either, so that's where we stand.
One important this to note, though, is that the Niners had a quick turnaround thanks to a Thursday night game, so it's possible both would have played if the game was on a Sunday.
For what it's worth, Jennings initially replied "nah" when asked if his Week 5 availability is in doubt, so clearly he didn't think his issues were that serious.
As for Pearsall, Briana Jeannel of 49ers.com noted that Pearsall was dealing with soreness, which doesn't sound like anything to be concerned about beyond this week.
When you add in injuries to tight end George Kittle (hamstring, IR) and wideout Brandon Aiyuk (knee, PUP), it makes the Niners' situation even more precarious.
But there is potentially light at the end of the tunnel, as Kittle is eligible to be activated off IR in Week 6, and Pearsall and Jennings may return, also.
