The Los Angeles Rams trail the San Francisco 49ers by a score of 17-7 after the first half of play and S.F. has mostly dominated this game.
The Rams came out flat to start the game as Mac Jones’ opening drive was a pristine one ending with a wide-open touchdown throw to the endzone as S.F. took a 7-0 lead after the extra point.
L.A.’s lackluster start carried throughout the first quarter and if you didn’t know the 49ers were playing without their top receivers, you wouldn’t have knowns because the 49er’s backups beat up on the Rams starters.
No matter the down and distance, S.F. found a way to get the yardage they needed to make L.A.’s defense look futile, and to San Fran’s credit, they didn’t really allow the Rams offense on the field so how could they get in rhythm?
The 49ers easily took a 14-0 lead before L.A. had a second offensive possession.
On L.A.’s second drive, they were moving the ball, and then Blake Corum fumbled in scoring territory giving San Francisco the ball back, and plenty of momentum.
The Rams defense did force a fourth down after a dropped pass on S.F.’s part, and L.A. was able to start their third offensive possession of the day with about six-minutes to go in the half.
L.A. put together another good drive, but this time instead of a fumble, it ended with a Matthew Stafford touchdown throw to Kyren Williams to make the game 14-7 after the extra point.
The 49ers kept control of this game with a field goal before halftime to make the 17-7.
Will the Rams be able to respond with a sharper second half than first half?
