Stepping into the primetime spotlight for his third start of the season, Mac Jones delivered the kind of rock-solid, efficient performance that is quickly becoming his calling card in the Kyle Shanahan offense.
On a night when the injury-riddled San Francisco 49ers desperately needed a steady hand against the Los Angeles Rams, Jones provided exactly that, orchestrating a masterful effort on Thursday Night Football to guide the team to a crucial divisional victory. The veteran quarterback controlled the tempo and minimized mistakes, finishing with 342 yards on the night in the 49ers' 26-23 win. San Francisco advanced to 4-1 and sole possession of first place in the NFC West.
The No. 15 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft was reportedly highly-looked upon by the 49ers front office, before San Francisco decided to pick Trey Lance four years ago. Now, years later, Jones is a 49er and performing at a top level.
