The Rams head coach was not happy.
Rams' Sean McVay gives NSFW response after questionable play call in OT loss originally appeared on The Sporting News
The Los Angeles Rams entered their Thursday night matchup with the San Francisco 49ers as heavy favorites to win and start 4-1. Unfortunately for the Rams, self-inflicted wounds and a terrific performance from Mac Jones and a 49ers team leaning heavily on reserves in several spots played out of their respective minds, which led to the upset win.
Despite multiple turnovers, including a Kyren Williams fumble at the goal line with just over a minute left to play, the Rams rode Matthew Stafford and his nearly 400 passing yards to get the game to overtime, as well as getting the ball back down to the red zone after a 49ers field goal on the first possession of the bonus period.
The 49ers held the Rams and forced them into a 4th-and-1. Instead of playing for the tie and kicking the field goal, Sean McVay kept his offense on the field. The play call saw Williams get the ball on a handoff that the 49ers saw from a mile away and they stuffed him at the line of scrimmage to secure the win. McVay was asked about the play call after the game, to which he took full blame.
"It was a bad call. It was a bad call by me," McVay said. "I'm sick right now because I put our players in a sh--ty spot, and I've got to live with that."
The Rams have let two games slip away already. They held a 19-point lead over the Philadelphia Eagles and lost, and now multiple turnovers and more missed kicks cost them a win in the division.
