A surprise Chelsea player has made the top 5 for assists by defenders in the Premier League since 2023-24 in stats list.
Chelsea have had a bit of an up and down time since the new owners came in a few years ago, and I think you can say it’s been very inconsistent to say the least. Last season ended much better with Champions League qualification, winning The Conference League, and then of course winning The Club World Cup over the summer. These were all fantastic achievements.

But some Chelsea fans are still not convinced of fully confident that Chelsea are ‘back’ yet and believe there is a way to go.
Some of the many new players that have arrived at the club in the last few years have come in and done very well, others not so much.
Right back Malo Gusto is a player who will split fan opinions. Some think he’s been good, others think he’s been awful. The reality is of course, like Chelsea, Gusto too has just been very inconsistent so far in a Chelsea shirt, but he has done a lot of good things along the way.

As you can see from the image above, Malo Gusto has made the top five for assists by defenders in the Premier League in all competitions since 2023-24.
A big surprise
I believe most Chelsea fans will be quite surprised to see Gusto’s name in this list, especially so high up.
But as I say, I think Gusto has been very good at times in a Chelsea shirt but equally he’s also had some poor performances. He just needs to get that consistency in his game now so he can really make it at the club for a sustained period.
