What channel is Army football at Alabama Bimingham this week? Here's how you can watch the Black Knights take on the Blazers, including time, channel.
Army football coach Jeff Monken said a week ago that he doesn't like playing Thursday night games. The flip side of that is he doesn't mind having two extra days to heal and prep for the following game.
However, whatever added edge Army might have gained from that scenario will certainly be negated when the Black Knights head to Alabama Birmingham on Saturday.
Having last played on Sept. 20 at Tennessee, the Blazers (2-2) not only had an extra week to prepare for Army's unique offense, but UAB already faced another option attack team, Navy, in September.
Army rolled to a 44-10 win over UAB a year ago at West Point, but the Blazers have made great strides under third-year head coach Trent Dilfer and talented quarterback Jalen Kitna, who ranks No. 5 nationally with 314 passing yards per game. UAB is averaging nearly 33 points per game, rushing for 117 yards and passing for 320. Kitna is completing 72% of his throws in a spread offense that has utilized 11 receivers with multiple catches.
Army has struggled to contain opposing quarterbacks early in recent contests, falling behind 21-0 to both North Texas and East Carolina — both ended up as losses. Army hasn't dropped three in a row since 2023.
Army snapped an five-game losing streak against UAB with the 2024 win at Michie Stadium on Oct. 12. UAB had won every career meeting from 2000-04 when both schools were members of Conference USA, including two games in Birmingham.
Army is 740-550-51 all-time following a 12-2 season in 2024. UAB is 175-196-2 since 1991 (the first two seasons were at NCAA Div. III, at 11-6-2).
The Black Knights (1-3) will play their third road game this season and second in a row. Last season on the road, Army beat Florida Atlantic, Temple, Tulsa and North Texas, all in American action. At neutral sites, Army bowed to Notre Dame (at Yankee Stadium), Navy (at Northwest Stadium) and beat Louisiana Tech (Independence Bowl in Shreveport, La.).
Army — normally a stalwart at home — has dropped consecutive overtime games at Michie Stadium: 30-27 to Tarleton State on Aug. 29 and 45-38 to North Texas on Sept. 20. In between, Army stunned Kansas State 24-21 on Sept. 6.
UAB opened with a 52-42 win over Alabama State, bowed to Navy 38-24, beat Akron 31-28 and lost to Tennessee 56-24.
