The New York Jets placed running back Braelon Allen on injured reserve ahead of the Dallas Cowboys matchup. He is sidelined with a knee injury that he suffered against the Miami Dolphins on Monday night football.
Allen has rushed for 76 yards on 18 carries and one touchdown, along with averaging 4.2 yards per carry. He also has caught two passes for 17 yards receiving and zero touchdowns, along with averaging 8.5 yards per reception. Will Allen be able to return to the field this season for the Jets?
He's out 8-to-12 weeks
FOX Sports shared a story from the Associated Press on Friday about the latest update on the Jets running back. It said, "New York Jets running back Braelon Allen will likely be out between eight and 12 weeks with a knee injury that landed him on injured reserve this week, coach Aaron Glenn said Friday."
Glenn spoke to reporters on Friday. With Allen being sidelined for that long, it remains to be seen if he is going to return at all for the 2025 NFL season. With him being out, Isaiah Davis is expected to be the second running back on the depth chart for New York on Sunday against Dallas. He will be behind Breece Hall on the depth chart.
The Jets head coach also said also about Allen's potential recovery, "There’s two different ways he can go about it. He could actually rehab this. It'll be the same time frame or he could have surgery and get it cleaned up. But the rehab time will be exactly the same. So, that will be a decision him and his agent will have to make. I’m not making that decision for him."
This is a huge loss for the Jets offense. Glenn's squad is 0-4 on the season and the Cowboys are 1-2-1. If they drop to 0-5 this weekend, it will continue to get worse for this Jets team.
