It was a scary week, but the Yankees shook off their loss to the Red Sox in Game 1 of the Wild Card Series to win the next two and eliminate their archrivals. The Wild Card Series itself is a newer concept—only introduced on an annual basis in 2022—but the Yankees became the first team since then to win one after dropping the opener. Although the special 16-team playoff in the COVID-shortened 2020 featured a couple such upsets, it was one thing to do that in an empty ballpark and another to do it with Yankee Stadium goingberserk.
Before first pitch of Game 1 though, we polled Yankees fans through the Reacts survey to get a pulse on how they were feeling about the best-of-three series. What would the outcome be? Well, give credit where credit is due: nearly half of you nailed it!
