Grading Steelers' wide receivers through first four games of 2025 season

Here are some bye week grades for the Pittsburgh Steelers wide receivers, rating their performances through the first four games of the season.

Through the first four games of the season, the Pittsburgh Steelers' passing offense has been up and down — but that falls more on poor pass blocking and scheme than the wide receiver room itself.

With the Steelers enjoying their much-deserved bye week, we've graded Pittsburgh wide receivers based on their overall output, performance, and impact through the first four games of the season.

DK Metcalf

The WR1 in Pittsburgh, Metcalf has looked phenomenal early in the season. He's been a staple of the Steelers' yards-after-catch game plan on offense, quickly becoming Rodgers' favorite target for short and intermediate passes. Metcalf leads the offense with 261 receiving yards and should continue to play a huge role each week as the Steelers continue to reshape their offensive identity. It feels as if Pittsburgh is just scratching the surface of the Aaron Rodgers–Metcalf connection — which should terrify opposing defenses. Grade: A

Calvin Austin

Austin seemed primed for a fantastic season after he caught four passes for 70 yards and a touchdown in the regular season opener — but he hasn't gone over 35 receiving yards in the past three games. His game-changing speed forces defenses to respect the deep ball, opening up short, quick passes to other wideouts — which appears to be Pittsburgh's game plan at the moment. Grade: B-

Roman Wilson

2025 doesn't appear to be the Year 2 breakout many hoped it would be, with just one catch for seven yards through four games — disappointing to say the least. He's played second fiddle to almost every other Steelers wideout in terms of offensive snaps. Grade: D+

Ben Skowronek

A reliable, selfless special teams contributor who even managed to catch Rodgers’ first touchdown pass as a Steeler, Skowronek has performed exactly as advertised. Grade: B

Scotty Miller

Despite shining bright this preseason, Miller has failed to make an impact on offense — going without a single reception through four regular-season games. It's difficult to grade Miller poorly, however, as expectations weren't terribly high considering his position on the depth chart. Grade: C-
