‘It was a very reckless act’ – Hansi Flick ‘doesn’t regret’ criticism of Spain over Lamine Yamal

More strong words from the Barcelona boss

Hansi Flick has once again been talking about Lamine Yamal and Spain after the Barcelona star was ruled out with injury for a couple of weeks.

The Barcelona manager criticised Spain for not looking after Yamal properly after he returned from the last call-up with an injury.

Flick was quizzed on those remarks at a press conference ahead of Sunday’s match with Sevilla and says he doesn’t regret a thing.

“I don’t regret what I said. I wanted to protect my players; it was my way of saying, ‘Stop it.’ It was a very reckless act. Maybe a good story is good for you. But that’s all in the past,” he told reporters.

“Now we have to focus on the present and the future. But that’s all in the past. The important thing is to manage the situation together: the players, the clubs, the national team…”

Flick then turned his attention to the Sevilla match and is hoping his team can bounce back from defeat to PSG.

“We’re back in La Liga, and the Sevilla game is very important for us,” he added. “We want to take all three points. Everyone is sad after the defeat. We have to be smarter and more intelligent. We have to learn from everything, and we will.”

Barcelona’s game on Sunday is the team’s final outing before the international break. The Catalans will return to action on October 18th against Girona.
