3 potential X-factors on the New York Jets offense vs. the Dallas Cowboys in Week 5

Identifying some potential X-factors for the New York Jets on offense in Week 5 versus the Dallas Cowboys.

The New York Jets offense made too many critical errors in Monday's primetime loss to the Miami Dolphins. The offense lost three game-swinging fumbles. Now on a short week, Tanner Engstrand's unit needs to play more efficiently against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 5.

We've identified three potential X-factors for the Jets' offense.

Isaiah Davis, RB

New York Jets running back Isaiah Davis (32) is tackled by Buffalo Bills defensive tackle T.J. Sanders (98), Sunday, September 14, 2025, in East Rutherford.

Isaiah Davis will take on the RB2 role this week behind Breece Hall following Braelon Allen's multi-week injury. The Cowboys are allowing 123.3 rushing yards per contest. The Justin Fields-led offense will be a run-heavy one, meaning Davis should receive opportunities to make an impact.

Mason Taylor, TE

Rookie tight end Mason Taylor finally broke out against the Dolphins. The former LSU standout registered five receptions on seven targets for a season-high 65 yards. The Jets need to continue establishing Taylor against a Cowboys secondary that's struggling to defend the pass.

Garrett Wilson, WR

The Cowboys are allowing a league-worst 297.3 passing yards per contest. That's more than 30 yards per week compared to the second-worst unit. If any Jets receiver is going to test this leaky secondary, it's Garrett Wilson. Wilson has recorded 50-plus receiving yards in every appearance this year, and leads the Jets in receiving by more than 200 yards.
