Here's where the veteran running back could land.
3 teams that could trade for Saints' Alvin Kamara originally appeared on The Sporting News
The New Orleans Saints are 0-4 and could be a prime trade partner for contending teams looking to upgrade with a trade.
Saints' insider Nick Underhill reported that New Orleans could be open to trading a number of their key veterans. That could include 30-year-old running back Alvin Kamara, who has been with the Saints since 2017.
So who could be some teams that could target the veteran ahead of the trade deadline?
Arizona Cardinals
It has been a rough season for the Cardinals backfield.
Arizona lost starting running back James Conner to a season-ending ankle injury in week 3. It was devastating but the Cardinals had the luxury of Trey Benson, the back they drafted out of Florida State the year prior.
Benson was expected to get his chance to be a bellcow back but he suffered a knee injury the following week and was put on injured reserve.
Now Arizona is scraping the bottom of the barrel with their third and fourth string running backs. Enter Kamara who is a threat both running and catching out of the backfield. He could be an asset for a team with a banged-up position group.

Kansas City Chiefs
The Chiefs running game needs a jolt of energy. Isaiah Pacheco, the expected starter entering this season, has just 32 carries for 127 yards and no touchdowns through four games. Kareem Hunt, the veteran power back, has 36 carries for 115 yards and one score.
Kansas City has invested in their offensive line through the draft but haven't seen the results on the ground. While they've been able to move the ball through the air, Andy Reid's team will need a balanced attack to return to the Super Bowl.
Kamara, who has 65 carries for 236 yards, could provide a spark to the Chiefs' offense. The benefit for the veteran is that he would join a backfield with other capable backs. His workload could be manageable for an older player with runners like Pacheco and Hunt to spell him.
That means less injuries, more variety, and another weapon for the Kansas City offense.
Los Angeles Chargers
The Chargers drafted running back Omarion Hampton out of UNC in the first round of this year's draft but they could still make a move for Kamara.
For starters, they opened the year with veteran Najee Harris in a timeshare with the rookie Hampton while he adjusted to the NFL until Harris suffered a season-ending Achilles injury.
Now it's solely Hampton's backfield but with head coach Jim Harbaugh's physical style, it could wear down the rookie.
Kamara would provide leadership and another look in the Chargers' backfield especially if they make the playoffs. He would also be another receiver for QB Justin Herbert to target in the flat and over the middle.
Right now the Chargers' backups are Hassan Haskins and Kimani Vidal. That's not going to cut it if they want to compete for a Super Bowl. Kamara could be the missing piece they need.
The NFL trade deadline falls on November 4th so the Saints have time to shop Kamara and their other veterans to get the best offer. If the veteran running back is truly on the market you can expect plenty of suitors calling in to New Orleans and maybe one will make a deal.
