Taylor Decker will not play against the Bengals because of a shoulder injury that's nagged him all season. Gio Manu is up next.
CINCINNATI – After playing through a shoulder injury the first month of the season, Taylor Decker is getting a rest.
The Detroit Lions made Decker inactive for today’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals after downgrading him to doubtful earlier in the day.
Decker has practiced sparingly this year because of an injury to the shoulder he had surgically repaired in the offseason. He missed all three practices last week and has been listed as “out” on 12 of the Lions’ 15 actual or estimated practice reports this year, but has still played at a high level most of the season.
The Lions (3-1) have not allowed a sack in their past three and rank sixth in the NFL in rushing at 139 yards per game.
Gio Manu could make his first career start in Decker's place, and the Lions elevated offensive tackle Devin Cochran from their practice squad to their 53-man roster on Saturday for insurance.
Along with Decker, linebacker Zach Cunningham (hamstring), running back Sione Vaki (groin), cornerback Khalil Dorsey (wrist), offensive lineman Kingsley Eguakun and defensive linemen Chris Smith and Mekhi Wingo are inactive for the Lions.
