Cardinals' Emari Demercado makes unforgiveable fumble mistake on should-be touchdown originally appeared on The Sporting News
If there are kids at home watching this: Never, ever do this.
Hold onto the football into the end zone. It's the most important commodity. There's no touchdown without it.
Arizona Cardinals running back Emari Demercado didn't follow that directive on Sunday.
He was gone, a 72-yard touchdown, not going to be caught.

And just before he crossed the goal line, he tossed the ball away, ready to celebrate.
Except the football hadn't crossed the goal line yet.
And it rolled out of the back of the end zone for a touchback.
It happened again.

How does this keep happening?
It happens a couple times a season. It's inexplicable and unforgiveable.
Demercado certainly didn't do his future playing time any favors with this.
He's in a spot where he could've earned more time with James Conner and Trey Benson out.
Both Michael Carter and Bam Knight already had touchdowns on Sunday. This would've made Demercado the third Arizona RB to find the end zone. But he came up just short in a brutal mistake.
