Emari Demercado fumble: Cardinals RB is latest player to commit brutal blunder to erase TD

Arizona Cardinals running back Emari Demercado is the latest player to commit the massive blunder of letting go of the football before crossing the goal line, something he did in the Week 5 game against the Tennessee Titans.

Arizona Cardinals running back Emari Demercado is the latest player to commit what is one of the most unacceptable blunders in the NFL.

Demercado, who was barely involved in the game after he was expected to be the team's lead back in Week 5 against the Tennessee Titans, finally got his opportunity to run the football and broke loose for what would've been a 72-yard touchdown run.

However, as we've seen so many players do over the years, Demercado dropped the ball before crossing the goal line and it was ruled a touchback, erasing what would have been a game-sealing touchdown in the fourth quarter.

Thankfully for the Cardinals, they were up 21-6 at the time, so it isn't as devastating as it could've been.

That said, it's still simply inexcusable. The Cardinals might cut Demercado before leaving the stadium on Sunday. He already clearly isn't in great standing after not having a role despite injuries to James Conner and Trey Benson.

Making Demercado's blunder even worse, this is the second-straight week this has happened, so it's not even like it was a long time in between something like this happening.

Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Adonai Mitchell did the same in Week 4, and he was promptly punished for his blunder this week by having his role reduced, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.

When will these players learn that showing off just isn't worth the potential result and backlash?

Clearly, the answer to that is never.
