The New England Patriots have ended the Buffalo Bills' undefeated start to the season, with a 23-20 win at Highmark Stadium on Sunday Night Football.

Drake Maye was sublime, going 22 of 30 for 273 yards, but it was Stefon Diggs who stole the show on his return to Highmark Stadium for the first time since being traded at the end of the 2023 season.

Much was made of Diggs' return, and the star receiver made sure he played a role in the win, with Maye looking his way early (on the first play of the game) and often.

Stefon would make catch after catch en route to a 10-reception, 146-yard game to come back to haunt a Bills defense that had no answer to him.

It will no doubt be sweet satisfaction for Diggs as he came back to play a pivotal role in his former team's demise, and handing them their first loss would be the cherry on top.

Patriots prove AFC East isn't a one-horse race

Had Buffalo beaten the Patriots, it would have been a handful of games separating the two in the division, with the Bills owning the tiebreaker, but now? The Patriots are just a game behind Buffalo.

And the Bills have to go on the road the next time they face the Patriots, so we might look back on this game as a crucial one for the division crown, and possibly playoff seeding.

Not many gave the Patriots a chance, but Maye and Co. rolled into Highmark Stadium and took it right up to Josh Allen and the Bills for four quarters and emerged victorious.

Was this a Maye "coming of age" moment? It sure feels like it.
