LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) – The Seattle Mariners defeated the Detroit Tigers 3-2 on Sunday night to even the best-of-five series at one game apiece.

Jorge Polanco hit two solo home runs off Tigers’ ace Tarik Skubal and those were the only runs of the game through seven innings.

Skubal threw seven strong innings, allowing the two runs on five hits with nine strikeouts.

Detroit rallied in the eighth, however, as a double by Spencer Torkelson drove in Gleyber Torres and Riley Greene to tie the game 2-2.

The rejuvenation didn’t last long. The Mariners answered right back in the bottom of the inning with a pair of doubles by Cal Raleigh and Julio Rodriguez to retake the lead.

The Tigers hitters mustered just three total hits in the game and were retired in order in the top of the ninth as Andres Munoz earned the save for the Mariners.

The series will shift to Detroit with game three scheduled for Tuesday at 4:08 p.m. at Comerica Park.
