Germany forward Nick Woltemade has said he has worked hard to achieve a strong start at Newcastle United with four goals since his summer arrival from VfB Stuttgart.
"I don't think a start like this can be taken for granted. I worked hard for it, and the people around me worked hard with me. The club, the coaching staff. I have been received here very well and I am very happy things are going so well," Woltemade told German Sky TV.
Woltemade, 23, converted a penalty into the top left corner in Newcastle's 2-0 victory over Nottingham Forest on Sunday. It was his third goal from four Premier League matches, and he also netted in the Champions League last week against Union Saint-Gilloise.
"It does you good when you score goals after arriving at a new club. New country, new league, to score right away is always nice," Woltemade said post-match.
Woltemade joined Newcastle for around €80 million ($93 million) at the end of August, and being serenaded by the fans gives him an extra boost.
"When you score a goal here you get a nice song. And already having three home goals I could listen to it. That is some kind of extra motivation."
Woltemade was due to join the national team on Monday for World Cup qualifiers but has not travelled because of a bout of flu.
German officials said it was not clear whether he would be healthy again in time for the matches against Luxembourg on Friday and in Northern Ireland thzee days later.
Woltemade has four Germany caps but is yet to score.
