Following his return to WWE programming, Roman Reigns is reportedly slated for a match at the upcoming Crown Jewel premium
Following his return to WWE programming, Roman Reigns is reportedly slated for a match at the upcoming Crown Jewel premium live event in Perth, Australia.
According to a report from Dave Meltzer of F4Wonline.com, an internal WWE document for the October 11 show lists Roman Reigns facing Raw superstar Bronson Reed. This places Reigns immediately back into a top position upon his return to the ring.
The report states that the bout between the leader of The Bloodline and the powerhouse of The Vision is being positioned to have a stipulation that is expected to be added to the match, though the specific details have not yet been determined. If the internal lineup holds, this will be Reigns’ first match back since the “Clash in Paris” event at the end of August and will be a focal point of the international broadcast.
Roman Reigns and Bronson Reed’s road to Crown Jewel
This encounter stems directly from Reigns’ surprise appearance on the September 29 episode of Monday Night Raw. During the show, Reigns emerged to save his cousins, The Usos, from a post-match attack delivered by The Vision’s Bronson Reed and Bron Breakker. The save marked the beginning of a new chapter in the ongoing Bloodline saga, setting up a major feud between the new-look Bloodline and the Raw faction, The Vision.
Reigns had been absent from WWE television since August 31, when he defeated Bron Breakker at “Clash in Paris.” Following that match, he was the victim of an assault from both Breakker and Reed, which resulted in him being carried out of the arena on a stretcher. His time away from the company was reportedly for filming commitments, as he is set to play the character Akuma in the upcoming “Street Fighter” movie.
Other bouts scheduled for Crown Jewel include Cody Rhodes facing Seth Rollins for the Men’s Crown Jewel Championship, John Cena taking on AJ Styles in a dream match as part of his retirement tour, and a tag team grudge match pitting Rhea Ripley and Iyo Sky against Asuka and Kairi Sane. The inclusion of Reigns vs. Reed appears to finalize the card, as WWE typically keeps PLE cards to around five matches.
