The 2025 Kentucky high school football season is here heading into the eighth week and there’s little movement in the latest set of Top 25 rankings.

The Trinity Shamrocks fell to St. Xavier of Ohio, but still remains Kentucky’s No. 1 team. Following right behind the Shamrocks are Christian Academy of Louisville and South Warren coming in a 2-3. Who else makes the cut in this week’s set of Kentucky high school football rankings?

The Massey Ratings, officially used during the BCS era, is a model that ranks sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule, and margin of victory.

Here is the latest Kentucky high school football Top 25 rankings, according to Massey as of Oct. 6.

1. Trinity Shamrocks

The Trinity Shamrocks (5-2) dropped just their second game of the season when they fell in a 17-14 decision against St. Xavier of Ohio. Despite the loss, the Shamrocks still sit at atop of the Kentucky Top 25 rankings.

The Shamrocks will aim for rare three-peat in 2025, which they have opened the season with some dominant performances, including a 63-0 rout of Pleasure Ridge Park and a 37-0 blowout of Frederick Douglass.

They will need players like quarterback Zane Johnson, running back Jamaurion Berry and wide receiver Sekou Kamara to fuel what is one of Kentucky’s most potent offenses. If Trinity can pull off a win this week against St. Xavier (Ohio), there’s a strong chance they could win out the rest of the way.

2. Christian Academy of Louisville Centurions

Christian Academy of Louisville (6-0) made it look too easy in last week’s 62-7 victory over  De Sales (2-4).

The Centurions started the season off winning three straight blowout victories, including wins over Lexington Christian Academy and Owensboro, respectively. They added also impressive victories in with a 34-27 decision over Ryle and a 55-6 rout of Central Hardin.

Christian Academy of Louisville has been one of the more dominant teams in the state as they feature a loaded roster, led by four-star sophomore defensive lineman Kellan Hall. The Centurions also have talents like senior defensive back Stone Perkins (Ball State commit) and linebacker Chapman Russell on defense.

The Centurions remain road warriors as they take on Central (2-4).

3. South Warren Spartans

The meeting between South Warren and Meade County last week was one of two programs going in totally different directions as the Spartans handed the Greenwave a 55-3 loss.

When it comes to playmakers on the offensive end making things happen for the Spartans, quarterback Camden Page and running back Kayden York have been the two main contributors thus far. Page has thrown for 1,390 yards and 14 touchdowns and York has totaled 529 and 11 scores on the ground.

South Warren has a bye week before they take on winless Central Hardin (0-7) on Oct. 17.

4. Boyle County Rebels

The Rebels (5-1) are steadily moving along through his season as they just picked up their third straight victory when they defeated St. Xavier (KY) last week, 14-3.

Boyle County aims to make it four consecutive victories when they face off against Russell County (3-3) this week. The Rebels have been able to win three clutch games when decided by 11 or less points this season.

Regaining the Class 4A state title will be Boyle County’s foremost goal this year. The Rebels’ tight end duo of Seneca Driver and Maddox Hager is crucial if Boyle County wants to make a serious run at winning another state championship.

5. Highlands Bluebirds

Highlands (6-1) have now won three consecutive games after dropping their first game of the season, by defeating Covington Catholic, 31-28, last week.

Last time the Bluebirds’ took the field before the start of the 2025 campaign was a 61-23 loss to Cooper in the Kentucky high school football KHSAA Class 5A semifinals. The loss snapped a seven-game winning streak and ended their quest for a state championship, which they last won in 2014.

Through seven games, Highlands’ offense has been humming under the controls of quarterback Mario Litmer, who has completed 95 of 143 passes for 1,171 yards and 11 touchdowns. The Bluebirds will have their hands full when they take on Ohio’s No. 1 ranked team, Elder.
