Travis Kelce didn't quite turn back the clock on Monday night. But he did show his usefulness as a short-yardage option in Kansas City's pass game.

While he didn't take the field until Monday night, Travis Kelce had already cemented himself as one of the stars of the week ahead of Week 5.

The Kansas City Chiefs tight end was the name on the lips of football fans and pop music enthusiasts alike after fiancee Taylor Swift released her latest album, "The Life of a Showgirl." Kelce wasn't explicitly mentioned on the album. But Swift certainly alluded to her relationship with the future Pro Football Hall of Famer, paying homage to him on tracks "Wood", "The Fate of Ophelia" and "Opalite", among other tunes.

Coming into Kansas City's "Monday Night Football" duel with the Jacksonville Jaguars, the pressure was on Kelce to perform. He has fell well short of his All-Pro heights in recent weeks, struggling to make much of an impact for Andy Reid's bunch. Perhaps he could coax a strong outing in honor of his soon-to-be wife.

Here's what you need to know about Kelce's Week 5 exploits.

The gaudy numbers Kelce authored up during his prime years look to be a thing of the past. But on Monday, he enjoyed a solid, if unspectacular showing at EverBank Stadium.

Kelce reeled in seven passes on the day, good for a new-season high. The Chiefs tight end was a constant presence in Kansas City's attack, albeit in a far less glitzy way than he has been used to. One of those snags resulted in a touchdown -- his second of the year and fifth in his past 21 starts.

Ultimately, Kelce's exploits weren't enough to lead the Chiefs to victory. But he compared favorably to the Chiefs' motley crew of pass-catchers, finishing with the most catches and second-most yards of anyone on his team.

Travis Kelce highlights vs. Jaguars

Kelce did his most damage in the short and intermediate game, posting an 8.7 yard per catch average on Monday. His speed and explosiveness looks to have atrophied in old age. But his hands remain fairly reliable across short distances. He proved as much when he pranced into the end zone in the first quarter.
