George Weah’s former agent, Oscar Damiani, feels it’s still too early to judge Jonathan David, although even the Canada international is aware that ‘time is very short’ to adapt at Juventus.
David has only scored one goal in seven appearances across all competitions at Juventus and has received criticism for two big chances missed against Villarreal and Milan.
Damiani, an Italian agent expert in French football and a former representative of Milan star Weah, defended the ex-Lille forward, saying that he only needs time to adapt to Serie A.
‘Too Early’ to judge David

“It’s still early for judgments; let’s give him time,” Damiani told Tuttosport.
“We’re talking about a player who always scored more than 20 goals per season in France. You don’t just stop scoring from one day to another. His struggles are normal, I’d even say typical for someone moving to Serie A from Ligue 1. There’s a cultural difference in everyday habits, but also on the pitch. It’s really tough for strikers. In France, you are rarely double-marked. In Italy, it happens all the time, to everyone, and surely David is a feared player.
“It’s a radical change; his past no longer matters, he knows he has to adapt, and time is very short,” continued the experienced Italian agent.
“I remember George Weah’s struggles during his first months. Even Henry had to change leagues before he blossomed. David needs at least one full season.
“Weah knew he just had to work. He had to keep believing in his ability and make the most of every chance he got. Milan knew exactly how valuable Weah was. It took him six months to settle in, but in the end, he did it brilliantly. I wish David the same path; he can make it. He’s got the qualities, and he can do well in Serie A as long as he doesn’t panic after missing the first chance.”

Igor Tudor has been rotating his strikers in the opening phases of 2025-26, and David started in the last two matches against Villarreal and Milan, although he was ultimately subbed off in both games.
“Let’s give him time, even if at Juventus, nobody really has time. David knows that too, but that’s the beauty and the burden of playing for such a great club,” concluded Damiani.
David joined Juventus on a free transfer from Lille last summer, signing a contract until June 2030.
