"I thought about quitting": A Manchester City stalwart breaks his silence!

John Stones went through a personal hell he will likely never forget. Plagued by foot and hamstring injuries, the 31-year-old defender spent most of last season in the treatment room, to the point where he seriously considered ending his career for good.

"Last season was so tough that I really thought about quitting," he told the BBC.

Mentally drained, Stones admitted he could no longer bear to "do everything perfectly only to get injured again," describing the ordeal as "very hard to live through."

But the Manchester City pillar ultimately found the strength to bounce back. Supported by his loved ones and his professional environment, he chose to keep fighting, driven by a winning mentality forged since childhood:

"I've always been a fighter, so why stop now?"
