TaylorMade gives the Spider Tour X a spooky makeover with the Midnight Howl

TaylorMade adds Halloween flair with the Midnight Howl Spider Tour X putter and werewolf-themed headcovers.

When I lived and worked in New York City, Halloween was never my favorite holiday. Riding the subway was scary enough most days without masks, kids throwing eggs or people drinking beer at 10 a.m. Still, there were bright spots—certain neighborhoods where it was fun to take the kids trick-or-treating, let them load up on candy, and enjoy the chaos.

That seems to be the spirit infecting TaylorMade this year, because the brand has released a Halloween-themed “Midnight Howl” family of putter covers along with a limited-edition version of Scottie Scheffler’s favorite flatstick, the Spider Tour X L-Neck.

The TaylorMade Midnight Howl version of the Spider Tour X L-Neck putter

From a performance standpoint, the $399.99 Midnight Howl model is identical to the standard Spider Tour X L-Neck—the same putter Scheffler used to win both the PGA Championship and the Open Championship this year. It has about 20 degrees of toe hang, which makes it well-suited for golfers with a slightly arcing putting stroke, and its perimeter weighting enhances stability through impact. The grooved Pure Roll face insert helps the ball start rolling more quickly after contact, reducing skid and hop.

The Midnight Howl version trades the usual finish for a stealthy all-black look accented by a neon-green alignment line. Flip it over and you’ll find a werewolf howling at the moon, completing the Halloween theme. Even the grip and headcover feature a snarling werewolf graphic.

And for golfers who just want to get into the Halloween mood without buying a new putter, TaylorMade is also offering Midnight Howl headcovers for both Spider and blade styles for $79.99.
