Brett Rypien replaced Jake Browning at QB during the fourth quarter of the Bengals' Week 3 loss to the Vikings, but did not attempt a pass.
Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Brett Rypien was released by the team ahead of its NFL Week 6 game against the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field.
Rypien was listed as the Bengals' backup behind starter Jake Browning before the team acquired 40-year-old Joe Flacco from the Cleveland Browns.
Rypien replaced Browning at QB during the Bengals' Week 3 loss to the Vikings in Minnesota. Rypien did not attempt a pass. It was the only game in which Rypien appeared for the Bengals.
Rypien spent the 2024 season on the Vikings' practice squad.
On Sept. 16, the Bengals announced they signed Rypien off the practice squad to the active roster, a move that followed starting QB Joe Burrow's turf-toe injury two days earlier.
In August, the Bengals announced they signed Rypien to their practice squad, one day after releasing former Cincinnati Bearcats standout Desmond Ridder.
The Bengals are Rypien's seventh NFL team since the Denver Broncos signed the former Boise State Broncos standout as an undrafted free agent in 2019.
