In a recent report, Fichajes mentioned that Barcelona are eyeing a move for Manchester City playmaker Bernardo Silva. It has been stated that the Catalan club are hoping to sign the Portuguese talent on a free transfer next summer.

Silva’s Impressive Form In The Premier League

Silva has made a decent start to this campaign as he has put in a series of impressive displays at the heart of Pep Guardiola’s midfield. The Portugal international has made nine appearances for the Mancunian club this season, picking up one assist on all fronts.

The 31-year-old worked hard for his team defensively after making seven tackles, three blocks, three interceptions and eight clearances in the Premier League. He was even tidy when distributing the ball from midfield after completing 85.5% of his attempted passes in league football (stats via fbref.com).

His current contract at the Etihad Stadium will run out at the end of this campaign, which could open the door for Barcelona to sign him on a free transfer next summer.

Will Silva Be A Decent Fit For Barcelona?

Silva doesn’t mind putting in a tireless shift for his team defensively and remains a technically gifted footballer. He has got the vision to engineer a few promising chances for his teammates in the final third and is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet.

The Portuguese sensation can chip in by scoring and creating a few important goals for his team on the offensive end of the pitch. He has got a wealth of experience at the highest level and is well-equipped to make an instant impact at the Catalan club.

We can expect Silva to add more quality to Barcelona boss Hansi Flick’s midfield. He is good enough to serve as an important member of the Catalan club’s match-day squad.

At 31, Silva has still got a few good seasons left in him to play at his best. Therefore, Flick would be wise to go all out to bring him on board next year. He might even help Barca compete for some major trophies in the coming years. Hence, he would be a great fit for Flick’s needs in the short term.
